Miso-Maple Caramel Sauce

In five minutes time, you’ll have a creamy and unique topping that enlivens apples, yogurt, pancakes and desserts from vanilla ice cream to brownies. Salted Caramel Sauce with Miso

Miso-Maple Caramel Sauce

  • ¼ cup ghee (or butter)
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1-½ Tbsp. miso (sweet white)
  • Pinch kosher salt
  • 2-3 drops vanilla extract
  1. In medium saucepan over medium heat, melt ghee or butter.
  2. Whisk in sugar until it melts and mixture comes to boil, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add maple syrup and continue to whisk 30 seconds.
  4. Slowly whisk in heavy cream and bring to boil. Continue to whisk 2 minutes until thick enough to stick and coat back of spoon.
  5. Remove from heat and whisk in miso, salt and vanilla.
  6. Let cool 5 minutes.
