Shea (Vitellaria paradoxa) butter is extracted from the shea nut of the shea tree, which is indigenous to Africa. It take several years for the tree to produce fruit but, once it does, it can continue doing so for up to 200 years.
Aura Cacia Organic Shea Butter comes from a women’s cooperative in Ghana where the butter is sometimes called ‘women’s gold’ because producing it provides a significant source of income for many West African women.
