Chebe Gluten Free Focaccia Mix Description

  • Delicious By Nature®
  • Makes One 9" Flatbread
  • Certified Gluten Free
  • Non-GMO Project Verified
  • Kosher Certified

It was 1999 when we decided to bring to the U.S. the great tasting bread we enjoyed while living in Brazil. Even though it was naturally gluten free, we didn't make a big deal about it until we got loads of mail from gluten-intolerant customers.

The message was simple: customers loved that our bread was full of flavor without an aftertaste. Today, all our dry mixes and frozen breads prove that gluten free can taste great. Give Chebe® a try. We think you'll agree that it's delicious by nature.

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
2. Blend Chebe Focaccia Mix with 2 tbsp. oil, 1 cup shredded cheese (optional; sharp or hard cheeses work best) and 2 large eggs. Slowly blend in exactly 1/4 cup water or milk/milk substitute.
3. Knead dough with hands until it is smooth.
4. Place dough ball in an ungreased 9" round pie dish. Press dough until dish is evenly covered.
5. Indent the surface of the dough with tips of fingers. Brush dough with olive oil.
6. Top lightly with herbs and (optionally) thinly sliced tomatoes and/or onions. Bake 35-40 minutes. Remove from dish, serve, and enjoy.

9 Best Better-for-You Baking Mixes at Vitacost

Remember the banana bread phase of quarantine that almost everyone went through last spring? Well, I’m still in that phase. Over the last 11 months, I’ve really enjoyed baking and cooking. While I usually like to bake and cook from scratch, such recipes often take up a bunch of time. Luckily, I found these nine baking mixes that are tasty, healthy, easy to make, and all available at Vitacost!

1. Simple Mills Vanilla Cupcake and Cake Mix

Simple Mills Vanilla Cupcake and Cake Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog This naturally gluten-free vanilla cupcake and cake mix is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth without making you feel guilty about indulging in a dessert. It’s made with just six ingredients, contains no preservatives, and is the perfect balance of yummy and healthy. The cake mix takes about 45 minutes of preparation and bake time while the cupcake mix takes 30 minutes. Both can easily be made during your afternoon lunch break, and your treat will be ready and waiting for you when it’s time to take a break from Zoom calls. Tip: For more flavor, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon into the mix and stir with the rest of the ingredients, or sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top of the mix at the very end before putting the pan in the oven.

2. Krusteaz Chocolate Cake Mix

Krusteaz Chocolate Cake Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog This gluten-free chocolate cake mix is free of artificial flavors, artificial colors and preservatives. All you need to make this are 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cups of milk and 1 cup of vegetable oil. It’s the perfect mix for any chocolate lover!

3. Cherrybrook Kitchen Chocolate Frosting Mix

Cherrybrook Kitchen Chocolate Frosting Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog This all-natural chocolate frosting is gluten-, peanut- and nut-free, so it’s a great option for anyone with food allergies. Since it’s made with just a few ingredients – confectionary sugar, natural cocoa powder, all natural vanilla flavor, and sea salt – you don’t have to worry about ingesting any unnatural ingredients that are commonly found in other frosting mixes. The imported Belgian cocoa powder delivers an authentic, potent chocolate flavor, and this frosting would be great to pair with the aforementioned chocolate cake mix.

4. ZenSweet Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix

ZenSweet Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog This dark chocolate brownie mix is naturally gluten- and grain-free, contains no sugar or artificial ingredients and is vegan and paleo friendly. This is the ultimate mix for any health-conscious brownie lover! Similar mixes often have healthy ingredients and taste exactly like those ingredients; in other words, the end result usually doesn't taste like real brownies. This mix, however, is so delicious that you wouldn’t even think twice about what it’s made of. It only takes 35 minutes to prepare and bake, so this is definitely a quick and easy dessert you can make at any time of day. Tip: For added sweetness and a chewier consistency, you can stir 1 tablespoon of coconut flakes into the mix. Alternatively, you can add the flakes on top of the mix at the very end before putting the pan in the oven.

5. Namaste Foods Muffin Mix

Namaste Foods Muffin Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog Now that we’ve covered cakes, cupcakes and brownies, let’s move on to some healthier mixes. This muffin mix is kosher and free of wheat, gluten, egg, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, soy and GMOs. After mixing three ingredients and waiting 12-15 minutes, you’ll end up with 12 simple, yummy muffins! The directions call for adding a dried fruit(s) of your choice or substituting fruit juice for extra flavor.

6. Hogan's Irish Scone Mix

Hogan's Irish Scone Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog There’s something so appealing about the idea of sitting by a window with a cozy blanket while eating a warm, buttery, moist scone and sipping some tea. You can turn that daydream into a reality with this Irish scone mix! This is the simplest mix to make out of this entire list, requiring only 20 minutes of your time, 8 fl. ounces of cold water, a lightly greased flat cookie sheet and the mix itself.

7. Chebe Focaccia Mix

Chebe Focaccia Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog This gluten-free focaccia mix makes one 9-in flatbread. Not only does this taste yummy, but the experience of making the bread itself is also really fun; kneading the dough after a long day of work is surprisingly stress-relieving and therapeutic. While this does take about an hour to make, the end result of chewy, flavorful flatbread is well worth the wait. Tip: Add 1 teaspoon of garlic and rosemary into the mix for more flavor. You can also use the mix as pizza crust.

8. Yeast-Free Bread Mix from Anna

Yeast-Free Bread Mix from Anna | Vitacost.com/Blog This bread mix is made with an all-purpose flour blend and is free of yeast, gluten, corn, soy, nuts, rice and potatoes. Since this takes an hour to make and an hour to cool, this could make for a nice weekend baking activity. While the original directions include eggs, you can also make the egg-free version of the recipe in order to make it completely dairy-free.

9. Authentic Foods Pizza Crust Mix

Authentic Foods Pizza Crust Mix | Vitacost.com/Blog Lastly, this mix makes a 16- to 18-in pizza crust. It’s free of gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, nuts, corn, xanthan and guar gum, and you only need to add water, oil and yeast. Like the bread mix, this takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to make, and you can easily turn this into a fun weekend bonding activity with your family. When you make your own pizza from scratch, it often tastes better because you can personalize all of the flavorful ingredients to ensure that it’s made to your liking!
