You’ve made improvements to your diet and exercise routine, and you’ve reached – or are close to reaching – your ideal weight. Congratulations on this achievement! You’re likely feeling better and experiencing greater energy, more confidence and other benefits that come with reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. What you may not be pleased with, however, are lingering patches of cellulite on your thighs, backside or torso. Trust us: You’re not alone with this frustration.
What is cellulite, and what causes it?
Before delving into potential ways to get rid of cellulite, let’s review what it actually is. According to
The Cleveland Clinic: “Cellulite is the name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath your skin. It often appears on your thighs, stomach and buttocks. Cellulite makes the surface of the skin look lumpy and puckered, or appear dimpled.”
Fortunately, cellulite isn’t painful or harmful to your health – it’s an esthetic imperfection. Some compare its appearance to cottage cheese or an orange peel. Although men can experience cellulite, it most commonly affects women. In fact, it’s estimated that
80 to 90 percent of all women have varying degrees of cellulite. And, although it’s hard to believe, cellulite can even be visible in very lean women (and men).
What causes cellulite?
The exact physiological process for what causes cellulite is not well understood. Some suggested causes include hormonal changes, vascular irregularities and structural changes in skin.
Our bodies have fibrous bands that connect skin to underlying muscle. In men, these fibrous bands run in a crisscross pattern, while in women, they run more parallel to each other. It’s thought that the crisscross pattern makes the appearance of cellulite less visible in men.
When these bands tighten irregularly, they essentially cause a pulling down on the skin. This irregular tightening and pulling down causes the fat in the hypodermis (subcutaneous) layer of your skin to be pushed upward, resulting in puckered-looking skin. We all have a hypodermis skin layer as part of our skin’s structure. Cellulite may be more about connective bands than just about fat. That’s not to say that fat doesn’t play a part in the appearance of cellulite.
Another theory is that higher levels of estrogen in women, especially during puberty and pregnancy, make women more prone to cellulite.
Natural remedies for cellulite
The reason why some people experience cellulite and others don’t remains a mystery. However, there are
cosmetic treatments, topical creams and supplements that are reported to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Keep in mind that many of these cosmetic procedures – invasive and non-invasive – can be expensive, take multiple treatment sessions, and results may not be permanent. If you’re considering diet, exercise and/or supplements, be sure to research thoroughly and always check with your health care provider before changing anything in your current regimen.
Supplement support
To make your supplement search a little easier, there’s an ingredient, SOD B Dimpless® (a natural source of super oxide dismutase, or SOD, from melon), that has been
shown in a clinical study to support reduced appearance of cellulite.
† Of course, individual results may vary, but this was a double-blind placebo controlled clinical study on the SOD B Dimpless® ingredient.*
Country Life® developed a product called
Metabolism Reboot® that contains SOD B Dimpless® along with another ingredient, Sinetrol®. Sinitrol® is a blend of citrus polyphenols from red-orange citrus fruit with guarana extract (the guarana extract provides about 18 mg of caffeine per capsule).
Sinetrol® also has been clinically studied with positive results for fat and metabolism.
†**
Country Life® created this unique formula with both clinically studied ingredients to help you target cellulite and fat at the same time. It’s easy to incorporate Metabolism Reboot® into your routine. Simply take two capsules daily (one with breakfast, one with lunch), and you’ll be getting the clinically studied amount of both SOD B Dimpless® and Sinetrol®.
Remember, it’s always important to consult with your healthcare provider before taking a supplement or changing your diet or exercise routine.
