It’s about to be sandal season. So let’s get ready! You could go to the local nail spa and expose yourself to germs and fungus. That’s not to mention the toxic chemical cloud floating around those salons. Does that sound like fun? No. OK, let’s not do that. We can have feet care luxuries without the toxic chemicals and without leaving our own homes.
Make these three home pedicure tips a nightly routine for a couple of weeks and you’ll have pretty pedicured toes to show off poolside all summer long without risking your health and safety.
1. Start with a soak
First, you’re going to need to soak all that winter hibernation off your feet. A detoxifying foot soak is a wonderful way to help rid the body of toxins and allow yourself to grab a minute to relax. If you’re really committed you can use a foot spa tub, but your regular bath tub will suffice.
2. Scrub and soften
Next, get ready to scrub. Start with a great sea salt scrub top remove dead layers and soften your skin. You might need to bust out a pumice file if you’ve really built up some serious callouses. Take it slow. Don’t try to get your feet smooth as a baby’s bottom on the first try. It’s going to take some time, so be diligent and patient.
3. Treat your feet
Last, use a rich and thick lotion, preferable one formulated specifically as a foot treatment like Burt’s Bees Foot Creme and pop on a pair of moisturizing socks (you know, if you can handle it because I know sleeping in socks is a huge NO for a lot of you). After a couple of treatments you’ll really start to see a difference and you’ll know you’ve taken care of your body inside and out for the healthiest, most gorgeous you!
