Directions
Suggested Uses: Nutmeg's flavor is a bit sweeter, but more robust than the flavor of mace. It's traditionally used in Italian sausages, Middle Eastern lamb recipes, and various spice blends (some curry powder and garam masala blends, for example). Europeans use it in potato dishes, sauces, baked goods and processed meats.

Cheery Winter Simmer Pot

Warmed gently on the stovetop, this winter simmer pot, brimming with fresh cranberries, orange slices, ginger, star anise, cinnamon sticks, cloves and fresh rosemary, offers a natural alternative to artificial sprays and air fresheners. The inviting scent lasts for hours (or days with a little tending), inducing deep breaths, lifting moods and permeating souls.
Cheery Winter Simmer Pot
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 whole orange (sliced)
- 2-inch piece fresh ginger (sliced)
- 2-3 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 10 cardamom pods
- 5 whole star anise
- 3 whole nutmeg
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp. whole cloves
- Fill large saucepan or stock pot with water and add all ingredients.
- On stovetop over low heat, bring to gentle simmer for as long as desired, topping up with additional water as needed. (Note: Do not leave unattended.)
