Whether you're hosting friends for the game at your place or attending a tailgate party at the stadium, slow-cooker wings are an easy (and tasty) go-to. For this recipe, we kicked traditional honey-mustard wings up a notch by adding spicy chili powder and smoked paprika. Arrange on a platter with celery and carrot sticks to serve. And if you have the extra time, don't forget to prepare these game-day wings with a side of potato salad and coleslaw. (Tip from the chef: use organic ingredients when possible!)
Ingredients
2 lbs. chicken wings (thawed, if frozen)
1 pinch Frontier Sea Salt
1 pinch Frontier Black Pepper, to taste
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp. Frontier Whole Yellow Mustard Seed
1 tsp. Frontier Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Frontier Chili Powder
1/2 tsp. Frontier Smoked Paprika
1/2 tsp. Frontier Onion Powder
Directions
- On clean surface, arrange chicken wings and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- In small saucepan, bring mustard and honey to boil, stirring to prevent burning. Once mixture reaches a boil, remove from heat and whisk in mustard seeds, garlic, chili powder, smoked paprika and onion powder.
- Pour mixture into a slow cooker. Add chicken wings and gently toss with honey mustard mixture until evenly coated. Cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.
- (Optional) For a crispy glaze, remove wings from slow cooker after cooking time is complete. Place wings on large baking sheet and cover with honey mustard from slow cooker. Preheat broiler on high. Cook wings under broiler for 3 minutes.
- Serve wings with celery sticks and ranch dressing.
Additional cooking tips: For quicker game-day preparation, do the following in advance. Prepare the honey mustard mixture and allow it to fully cool. Place uncooked wings and cooled honey mustard in a large container or bag and toss together. Freeze for later use or cook within 24 hours if stored in the fridge.
