Made with real meat, veggies and a flaky oat flour crust, these pup-approved pies turn any leftovers into tail-wagging treats. Each pie bakes up in a muffin pan for perfect portion control (because we all know they’d eat the whole pie if given the chance). The best part? You can feel good about every ingredient going into your dog's bowl — no mystery additives, just wholesome, homemade goodness. These little pies also freeze nicely, so you can keep a stash on hand for special occasions or whenever those puppy dog eyes get a little too convincing.
Thanksgiving Leftovers Pupper Pot Pie
Crust Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups oat flour
- 1/4 cup virgin coconut oil (or coconut oil that is solid at room temp)
- 4-6 Tbsp. cold low-sodium broth (or water)
- 2 Tbsp. pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1 Tbsp. flaxseed meal
- 1 tsp. turmeric (optional)
Filling Ingredients
- 1 cup meat (chopped or shredded (turkey, chicken, etc.))
- 1/2 cup mixed vegetables
- 1/4 cup low-sodium broth ( or water)
- 2 tsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. virgin coconut oil
Crust Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In stand mixer with paddle attachment, add all ingredients except water and mix on low.
- Start by adding 2 tablespoons broth or water, then continue adding liquid, one tablespoon at a time, until soft dough is formed.
- Place dough between two pieces of wax paper and roll flat.
- Using a glass or something round that is similar in size to the muffin cavity, cut 4 circles.
- Press circles on bottom and side of the muffin cavities, working with fingers until evenly covered.
- Cut shapes out of remaining dough to be used as top crust.
- Bake crusts 18-20 minutes or until dry looking. Remove from oven but continue to bake 8-10 minutes or until very dry looking.
- Gently remove crusts onto rack and allow to cool completely.
- Remove shapes from oven and place on rack to cool completely.
Filling Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine vegetables and meat and warm through.
- Add in 1/4 cup broth or water and coconut oil.
- Once oil has melted, add 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour. Stir everything together and cook several minutes until liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Assembly Instructions
- Once filling, crust and shapes are cool, spoon filling into crust and top with shapes.
- Serve to your eagerly awaiting pooches.
- Shelf-life and Storage
- Store pies in air-tight container 2-3 days. Freeze up to 2 months.
NOTE: The pot pies are meant as a treat and not a replacement for your pet's meal.

- Cooked bones of any kind
- Fatty skin or pan drippings
- Foods made with onions, scallions/green onions, leeks or garlic
- Foods loaded with gravy, butter, heavy cream, lard and salt
- Sweets, including sugar-free desserts as they might contain xylitol
- Raw dough (yeast, cookie, etc.)
- Raw potatoes
- And of course, chocolate, grapes, raisins and alcohol
