Creamy Banana-Spirulina Super(food) Bowl
Going somewhere to watch the big game? Chances are, there will be plenty of junk food to snack on later (and hopefully a few healthy goodies). So why not start the day off with a winning dose of nourishment?
While we’ve already compiled a list of 15 game day recipes for your football party, we decided to add on by creating the ultimate superfood smoothie bowl in the spirit of Sunday’s game. (Get it? Superfood bowl.)
This ice-cream-like smoothie is loaded with heroic ingredients, also known as superfoods, which are nutrient-rich foods comprised of superior combinations of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, healthy fats and amino acids.
If you’re curious which ingredients qualify as superfoods in this recipe, wonder no more. They all do. Every. Single. One.
Curb your cravings before kickoff and score a touchdown with your taste buds (and your appetite) with this sweet, nutrient-dense bowl.
Ingredients
3 bananas, peeled & frozen
2 Tbsp. ROOT² Organic Maca Powder
1-1/2 tsp. raw almond butter
1-1/2 tsp. spirulina
1 tsp. ground flaxseeds
Dash cinnamon
Dash turmeric
Raw football cookies
6 medjool dates, pitted
1/4 cup raw cashews
1 tsp. cacao powder
Directions
- To make cookies, use food processor to combine dates, cashews and cacao. Once doughy, use hands to mold into football shapes. Transfer to refrigerator.
- In high-speed blender, combine all smoothie ingredients until fully combined and creamy (and green!).
- Transfer smoothie to serving bowl. Arrange football cookies on top and serve! Garnish with hempseeds or shredded coconut for an extra superfood boost!
