Baked Sweet Potato Donuts With Cinnamon-Sugar
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Warm, cozy spices meet naturally sweet flavor in these baked sweet potato donuts with cinnamon-sugar. Made with a blend of aromatic ginger, nutmeg, turmeric and cinnamon, these donuts are soft, moist and perfectly spiced. Finished with a buttery cinnamon-sugar coating, they’re a wholesome yet indulgent treat that feels just right for fall mornings, brunch spreads or an anytime pick-me-up.
Baked Sweet Potato Donuts With Cinnamon-Sugar
Dry
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. cardamom
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ginger root
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1/8 tsp. cardamom
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Wet
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple sugar
- 2 tsp. Madagascar vanilla
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1 can sweet potato puree
- 1/3 cup avocado oil
Cinnamon-sugar coating
- 1-2 Tbsp. ghee
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon powder
- 4-6 Tbsp. brown sugar
- In large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Sift or whisk, then set aside. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In another bowl, combine wet ingredients. Whisk dry ingredients into wet until well combined.
- Prepare donut baking pan with avocado spray. Transfer batter into piping bag or zip-loc bag, close carefully, and cut one side of tip of bag. Squeeze batter into a donut pan approximately 2/3 full. Tap carefully to make sure batter is spread evenly.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes, depending on oven. Let donut settle and carefully transfer to cooling rack.
- In medium bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar with pinch of salt. Next, brush each donut with melted ghee and coat donut with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
