Granite countertops are one of the most attractive parts of any kitchen. Caring for them properly not only ensures that they last a long time, but it keeps them smudge free, shiny and – of course – free of grime and germs. Instead of spending a bunch of money on a storebought, chemical-based cleaner, grab an empty spray bottle and fill it with a few simple, natural ingredients for a safe, effective (and custom-scented!) cleaner for the nicest surface in your home.
Granite Counter Cleaner Recipe
What you’ll need:
1 cup isopropyl rubbing alcohol
1-½ cups water
5 drops of tea tree essential oil
5 drops of lemon essential oil
1/2 tsp. castille oil soap
20-ounce spray bottle
What to do:
1. In spray bottle, combine all ingredients and shake well.
2. To use, spray 5 to 6 mists (more for dirtier surfaces) and wipe clean with microfiber cloth.
Tips:
Be sure to use isopropyl rubbing alcohol, not rubbing alcohols made with glycerin.
If preferred, use vodka in place of rubbing alcohol.
Experiment with different essential oils such as grapefruit, peppermint and basil to create a scent you love.
