Apple-Cinnamon Breakfast Barley

Apple-Cinnamon Breakfast Barley
- 1 cup pearled barley
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp. honey
- 1/4 cup oat milk
- 1/4 cup applesauce
- 1 apple (chopped)
- Prepare barley according to package instructions using suggested water-to-barley ratio.
- To pot containing cooked barley, stir in cinnamon, honey, applesauce and milk. Heat on medium heat 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Serve topped with chopped apple.
- For added flavor, mix in nutmeg and pinch of ginger.
- Instead of apples, use any fruit of choice. This would be delicious paired with peaches, raspberries or cherries.
- Substitute oat milk with any milk desired including whole dairy milk, coconut milk or almond milk.
