Certified Organic Sucanat Cane Sugar from NOW Real Food is a whole cane sugar from pure, dried sugar cane syrup and is a healthy alternative to more refined and processed sugars. It retains all the properties of natural sugar cane, including its molasses content, which gives Sucanat a strong and distinctive flavor.

 

While it can be used as a 1:1 substitute for table sugar in many recipes. Sucanat's unique flavor characteristics and larger granules may require some experimentation to attain the proper flavor and texture.

Gluten-Free Blackberry Crumble

  • 6 oz. blackberries
  • 2 plums (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup Vitacost Certified Organic Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Vitacost Organic Virgin & Unrefined Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. water

Streusel

  • 1 cup Vitacost Gluten-Free Baking Flour Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter (or vegan butter)
  • 1/4 cup Vitacost Certified Organic Light Brown Sugar
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Add fruit to 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. In bowl, mix together sugar, coconut oil and water; pour over fruit.
  3. In medium bowl, mix together flour, butter and sugar. Chill in refrigerator 20 minutes.
  4. Using hands, crumble flour mixture over fruit.
  5. Bake 30-35 minutes until topping is browned. Serve warm. Top with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
