Stir-Fried Sesame Tofu

Marinated in a blend that includes garlic, coconut aminos, toasted sesame oil, ginger and a touch of maple syrup, this spicy protein-packed dish is the ideal companion to rice, quinoa or noodles and any veggies you desire. The best part? It's a breeze to cook, and with a little morning prep for marinating, you'll have a mouthwatering dinner ready to savor in minutes come evening. Finish it off with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and scallions for that extra touch of perfection. Stir-Fried Sesame Tofu

  • 1 block sprouted organic extra-firm tofu
  • 1-2 Tbsp. organic coconut oil (or avocado, for sautéing)

Marinade

  • 1 large garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 Tbsp. organic coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut aminos (smoked or regular)
  • 1 Tbsp. organic soy sauce
  • ½ Tbsp. toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp. minced ginger (fresh or jarred, use more or less as desired)
  • 1 tsp. fresh turmeric (minced)
  • 1 tsp. maple syrup
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)

Garnishes

  • Sesame seeds
  • Scallions (chopped)
  1. Drain tofu, lay on paper towel or clean kitchen towel and place another towel on top. Place pan or other mid-weight object on top to lightly press 30 minutes to remove excess water.
  2. Cut tofu in ½-inch cubes.
  3. In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for sauce and marinate tofu ideally 3-4 hours. (Note: You can also opt to toss, mix and sauté.)
  4. In large nonstick skillet or wok over high heat, heat oil. Add tofu and stir often until golden brown and desired consistency. (Note: If desired, cook prepared tofu on sheet pan in oven at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.)
  5. To serve, top with chopped scallion and sesame seeds.
