Air Fryer Apple Fritters
Ditch the deep-fry! Give hot oil the slip! Step away from the spattery stovetop! Embrace the clean ease of the air fryer, and cook up some better-for-you homemade apple fritters. Ready in just 30 minutes – and bursting with fresh fall apples – these cinnamon-dusted handhelds will warm friends and family and sweeten the season.
Air Fryer Apple Fritters
- 2 cups peeled/grated granny smith or pink lady apples (2 apples)
- Cooking spray
Dry ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
Wet ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter (melted)
- ½ cup apple cider
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Coating
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter (melted)
- In 10 qt. (or larger) air fryer, cover inner basket with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray. Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.
- In large mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
- Mix in apple cider, beaten eggs, vanilla and grated apples.
- Use ice-cream scoop to spoon batter balls onto parchment paper. Don’t overcrowd. (Note: Depending on size of air fryer, you may have to cook fritters in 2 or 3 batches.)
- Air fry for 5 minutes. Flip fritters and air fry another 5 minutes until golden-brown. Repeat with remaining batter.
- In medium bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon.
- Slather fritters with butter on both sides. Roll one fritter at a time in cinnamon-sugar mixture until completely coated. Serve warm.
Notes
- If desired, squeeze juice out of grated apples to avoid watery batter. If batter gets watery, add tablespoon of all-purpose flour (or more) to thicken.
