Homemade Turkey Meatballs & Marinara Sauce

Baked until tender and then simmered in a rich, garlicky tomato base, these turkey meatballs make a hearty, wholesome meal the whole family will enjoy. While the sauce is simple to prepare, it delivers that slow-cooked flavor that feels extra special on a weeknight—but you can also save time by reaching for your favorite jarred marinara. Serve them over pasta, or spoon onto warm sourdough bread for a cozy, filling dinner.

Homemade Turkey Meatballs & Marinara Sauce

Meatballs

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp. ground flaxseed (plus 2 Tbsp. water, or 1 whole egg)
  • 1/4 cup onion (grated)
  • 1 garlic clove (crushed)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

Marinara sauce

  • 32 oz. finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove (crushed)
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh basil leaves (minced)
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In mixing bowl, combine turkey meatball ingredients. Mix well.
  3. Arrange 1 tablespoon-sized size scoops of mixture onto baking sheet.
  4. Bake 15 minutes until cooked through.
  5. In saucepan over medium heat, heat tomatoes in olive oil.
  6. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes.
  7. Add turkey meatballs to sauce, simmer 20 minutes to allow meatballs to soak in sauce.

Serve over pasta of choice or try over sourdough bread.
