What is Vitacost Tea Tree Oil?
Tea tree oil is a highly concentrated, undiluted extract that’s steam distilled from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree. First used by the Australian aborigines in the 1700s, tea tree oil gained popularity in the early 1900s when Australian physicians began using it as a skin cleaner and protectant.
Tea tree oil is commonly used for aromatherapy practices such as massage, inhalation, full-body baths, hand/foot baths, facial steaming, facial masks, compresses, spritzers, perfumes and flavorings. It may also be used for household purposes such as room fragrance (using a diffuser or humidifier), laundry, cleaning, dish washing and more.
Note, this product does not have a dropper insert. If the plastic seal has adhered to the bottle opening, remove it and place it back in the cap.

DIY Lemon & Tea Tree All-Purpose Cleaner
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil
- 15 drops lemon essential oil
- 4 oz. distilled white vinegar
- 8 oz. water
- In bottle, combine all ingredients; close and shake to mix.
- Swirl or shake bottle before each spray.
Storing this cleaner in a glass container is recommended as citrus essential oils contain healthy acidic properties that may break down plastic over time.
