Rather than spending a fortune on the packaged kind, why not try making your own? These simple recipes can be made with pantry staples and a food processor. Just blend, pour into a zipper-lock bag and go, go, go!
DIY Energy Gels
Add ingredients to your food processor and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into a baggie, then just clip the end when ready to eat. Gels can can also be stored in glass jars or travel-sized bottles.
1. Coconut Oil & Honey Energy Gel
8 dates (pitted), soaked in warm water for 4 hours or overnight
1 tsp. coconut oil
1 Tbsp. raw honey(or maple syrup)
Sprinkle of sea salt
2. Molasses & Honey Energy Gel
2 Tbsp. raw honey
1 Tbsp. molasses
1 Tbsp. brown rice syrup

Cinnamon Grapefruit
2 Tbsp. grapefruit juice
1 tsp. cinnamon
Mint Mocha Pick Me Up (2 servings)
½ tsp ground coffee
1 tsp. cacao powder or cocoa powder
Dash peppermint flavor
2 Tbsp. water
Banana Power
1 organic banana
3/4 cup brown rice syrup
1/2 cup organic agave nectar
1/2 cup raw honey
1/2 tsp. sea salt
Directions:
- Place banana and agave nectar in blender; blend until smooth.
- Combine mixture with remaining ingredients and energy gel (of choice) ingredients in bowl and stir until smooth.
- Add mixture to a zipper-top bag for on-the-go fuel.
